Ioanna Profyri is an Historian -Ethnologist specialising in gender issues, as well as immigration. She has been working as a scientific executive at Small Enterprises’ Institute of the Hellenic Confederation of Professionals, Craftsmen and Merchants since 2012 and deals with research on issues of gender inequality and discrimination in general in the field of employment and social policy. In addition, she was Head of the Equality Office of Small Enterprises’ Institute of the Hellenic Confederation of Professionals, Craftsmen and Merchants, implementing actions to promote the principle of gender equality in the trade union field and increase the participation of women in the decision-making centers of the Hellenic Confederation of Professionals, Craftsmen and Merchants and its members. She has worked as a consultant for the provision of services and counseling to women and also to more vulnerable groups of women (immigrants, refugees, Roma, etc.) at the Research Center for Gender Equality as also as teacher of Greek as a second / foreign language, Greek history and Greek culture for immigrant students in the context of Immigrants’ Education Programs. She is a graduate of the Department of History and Ethnology of the Democritus University of Thrace, with specialisation in History and has a Master of the Department of "Women's Studies" ("Etudes Féminines"), of Vincennes-Saint Denis University (Paris VIII). She has been a member of the writing team of two studies published by Research Centre for Gender Equality, while she has also published several articles in scientific journals on immigration, gender and women's entrepreneurship issues.
