This forty-first issue of iriv's electronic review is focused on solidarity. We dedicate them to the International Geneva Convention (1951-2021) relating to the status of refugees. Ratified by 145 States Parties, it defines the term “refugee” and sets out the rights of uprooted persons, as well as the legal obligations of States to ensure their protection. The fundamental principle is non-refoulement, according to which a refugee should not be returned to a country where his life or freedom is seriously threatened which is now considered a rule of customary international law.
